Ms. Anna Gunnarsson Pfeiffer
'77, P'08, P'10, P'12, P'15, Nonprofit Board Member in Washington, D.C.and Board Member, Washington International Club
Anna Gunnarsson Pfeiffer has served on numerous nonprofit Boards in the Washington, D.C. area focusing on education and the performing arts for more than thirty years. She graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in Economics and from George Washington University with an M.B.A. in Marketing and then pursued a career in telecommunications with AT&T in Washington, D.C. Anna is passionate about supporting local Washington, D.C. nonprofit organizations. She is currently a board member of The Capital Speakers Club, The Welcome to Washington International Club, The Washington National Opera Women's Committee, The Women's Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts and the Emerita Board of Many Hands DC. She has also served on both regional and national Duke University Boards, including the Duke Alumni Association National Board for four years, the DukeDC Regional Board for ten years with service as Board Co-Chair, and the DukeDC Women's Forum. She was honored to be the first woman to serve in the role of Co-Chair for the DukeDC Board of Directors for four years. Previously, Anna served on the Board of Directors of The National Symphony Orchestra of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for ten years and chaired the Special Events Committee. She also served on the Board of Trustees and as the Parents Association President of the Holton-Arms School in Bethesda, Maryland and served as a Director on the Board of the Parents Council of Washington, D.C., which represents more than fifty independent schools and their parent communities in the metropolitan area. Anna and her husband, Leonard, live in Potomac, Maryland and are the proud parents of four children, all Duke graduates: Kristin '08, Len '10, Lauren '12, and Jacqueline '15.
